Fantasy Classics
Some of the greatest music comes when composers delve into their deepest fantasies. Debussy’s Clair de lune and Vaughan Williams’ Greensleeves certainly spring to mind but so does Ravel’s Bolero used memorably in Dudley Moore’s film 10. Nova Quartet adds in music from The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight, Wicked and Howl’s Moving Castle to bring us bang up to date.

Haydn's String Quartets
& Scottish Songs (Iryna Chupryna)
String quartet op.50 no.6 The Frog
String Quartet op.20 no.4 in D major
Nova is delighted to be invited to play for Music at Aden. Haydn's sense of the ridiculous can be seen in The Frog Quartet when he writes rapid string crossings imitating the croaking of a frog and its hopping about. More humour is seen in our second quartet with its wild Hungarian dance played with open strings zinging about. Ukrainian soprano, Iryna Chupryna tops it all with Scottish songs arranged by Haydn with one, Will ye go to Flanders having such contemporary relevance, that Nova will link to the traditional Ukrainian anti-war song, Plyve Kacha.
